Our Head Start Program has been in existence since 1965 and is nationally known. We have been under First Baptist Church since 1974.

First Baptist Head Start is a kindergarten readiness program that strives to do just what “Head Start” implies – giving each child a Head Start or good start toward school success. It is also a free preschool program designed to help children do well in school and promote their social, physical, and emotional development.

First Baptist Head Start is now assisting the community with several options in the program that you may want your child to participate in.

First Baptist Head Start Offers:

Our Traditional 3.5 hour, 8 month Program operates Monday through Friday, morning or afternoon classes available.  To be eligible for this option a child must be 3 or 4 years old by September 2nd of the current school year, Four year old children will be placed first; three year old will be placed when space is available. To be eligible, a child’s family must meet federal income guidelines. These guidelines can be flexible for disabled children and/or for children with special needs who are “at risk” as a result of health, neglect, abuse, or other factors, and for whom Head Start is an appropriate placement.

Center Base Full Day:

Our Full Day, Full Year Center base Program operates Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. until 6 p.m.  The hours your child attends the program are determined by your work or school schedule.  Your child must be 3 years old by September 2nd.

Family Child Care, Full Day:

Our FCC Full Day, Full Year Center Base Program, is in the homes of licensed Child Care Head Start providers.  This program is provided Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.  The hours are determined by your work or school schedule.  Your child must be 3 years old by September 2nd.
